Google not downloading on wifi android

My wife and I have identical phones, both upgraded to v10 at same time. She does not have this issue. It is only my phone. Hi, I just upgraded my phone and I am encountering this issue now. Did anyone ever find a solution to this issue? Thank you. It appears that the issue is present on Android only, predominantly on Samsung devices, that too after an update to Android However, there are a few exceptions.

A mod seems to have identified the cause of the problem and says that they are taking up the issue to Samsung:. The issue is under investigation. We are telling Samsung to make the protocol the same as you have post 9 series. They say they have, yet only those 4 devices are affected. Before the 8 series and after the 9 series, one can send MMS over wifi. The fight continues. As it turns out, it was my ad blocker's fault. Ultimately, it appears that several common ad blockers now have the Google Photos uploader service blacklisted.

This means that your phone can't connect to Google's servers to let Photos know that you're back on Wi-Fi, so the app thinks you're still on mobile data and refuses to back up your media.

There's a super-simple solution to this: Disable your ad blocker. But that's a bitter pill to swallow, so I'll outline a better method below. Instead of outright disabling your ad blocker to fix Google Photos, you can simply whitelist Google Photos in most ad blockers to get things back to normal.

In more recent Play Store versions, it's at the top of the list: it says Auto-update apps , and the default is Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only. You need to change this to Auto-update apps at any time.

Data charges may apply. The Play Store app will prompt you if you try to download a large app and you're not on Wi-Fi. This applies to lots of games but not many applications. The reasoning behind all of these restrictions is because many users pay per kb of data, or they pay extra if they go over a limit.

The default behaviour is safe and avoids surprising users with large bills. Finally, I got it resolved. The issue was with APN settings provided by my service provider. Fixing that fixed downloading issue. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top.
